WALKING MEDITATION “In our daily lives, we’re bombarded by noise, commitments and worries about what we didn’t get done and what we need to do,’’ explains Jane Gilman of Brookline. “Walking meditation can be an opportunity to quiet your mind and find peace and joy. You already know how to put one foot in another. What we do in a guided walking meditation is a coordinated and harmonious movement of body and breath. It takes practice.’’
Gilman will lead a Walking Meditation in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh in Larz Anderson Park in Brookline on Saturday, June 11 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Larz Anderson Park, 15 Newton St., Brookline. Participants will learn breathing and meditation techniques that can easily be used in their daily lives, and practiced wherever they walk.
Gilman has been a student of Thich Nhat Hanh since 2003, and was ordained by the Core Community of the Order of Interbeing in 2009.
Tickets are $10. For more information or to register, call 617-730-2700 or go to www.brooklineadulted.org.
