If you have a yard, one that must be tended daily each summer, it can be especially relaxing to punch the accelerator and drive away from it — so as to enjoy the greenery somewhere else. Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston is one such oasis. With 16 gardens on 130 acres, it boasts such lush and varied flora that you might find yourself inspired to dive back into yard work — just not today. On July 16, Tower Hill hosts a daylong daylily event, with an exhibit of velvety specimens, educational programs, and kids’ activities. Should you be inclined, flowers will be for sale, too. Free with admission, $12 adults, $7 kids 6-18. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Visit www.towerhillbg.org.
