There’s a Wolf at the door. J. Geils frontman Peter Wolf is set to release a CD and then hit the road for a series of shows. Called “A Cure For Loneliness,’’ the album includes nine new songs, as well as a bluegrass version of the Geils hit “Love Stinks’’ and a couple of covers, including Moe Bandy’s “It Was Always So Easy (to Find an Unhappy Woman)’’ and Thomas Wayne’s “Tragedy.’’ The CD comes out April 8, but the first single, “Wastin’ Time,’’ is streaming now. “Each album is a challenge and every one of them has been a learning experience. I think that they’ve become more personal and revealing as I’ve continued,’’ the legendary Boston rocker told Rolling Stone. “I still feel the way I felt when I started out decades ago — I’m just trying to prevail and continue to grow as an artist . . . and to keep rolling on with music as a cure for loneliness.’’ The tour, which kicks off April 29 in Hartford, includes dates in New York City, Ann Arbor, Mich., Chicago, Londonderry, N.H., and Portland, Maine. Locally, Wolf is playing Fall River on April 30 and the Somerville Theatre on May 12.
