In a throwback to the Jazz Age, the fourth annual Roaring Twenties Lawn Party at Castle Hill on the Crane Estate is being held July 31, 3-8 p.m. at 290 Agrilla Road, Ipswich. For the event hosted by The Trustees of Reservations, a nonprofit dedicated to land conservation and historic preservation, in association with Boston Swing Central, attendees are invited to dress their Prohibition-era best and step back to the time when the Crane family hosted lavish parties in their 59-room English-style mansion and gardens. The event is suitable for all ages. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic or purchase a meal from on-site vendors. Tickets are available only in advance through thetrustees.org.
The WIC office serving Andover and North Andover has relocated to the Andover/North Andover YMCA, at 165 Haverhill St., Andover, a location easily accessible by public transportation, to ensure more residents can receive assistance. Currently, only 32 percent of eligible Andover residents and 75 percent of eligible North Andover residents receive WIC benefits. WIC is a state- and federally funded program for women, infants and children. The WIC program in Greater Lawrence, which has offices in Lawrence, Methuen, and Andover, is operated by the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc., which expects the move to increase enrollment among residents.
Dr. Phillip Gray has joined Hallmark Health and will begin practice at the Center for Radiation Oncology in Stoneham. An expert in radiation oncology, he has trained at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Radiation Oncology Program with rotations at MGH, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and others. Most recently, he was a member of the Department of Radiation Oncology at MGH. The Center for Radiation Oncology in Stoneham is a service of Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford.
The Marblehead Festival of Arts has awarded its yearly $3,000 scholarship to Marblehead High School graduate Victoria (Tory) Gilligan. The award is given to a high school senior living in Marblehead who is pursuing higher education in some branch of the arts. Gilligan is a singer who attends the Continuing Education division at New England Conservatory. She will use her scholarship to forward her education in Vocal Performance and Musical Education at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School.
On July 11, Malden company Garrick-Santo Landscape participated in Renewal & Remembranceat Arlington National Cemetery. This was the twentieth year that industry professionals helped care for the national burial ground that serves as the final resting place for more than 400,000 military service men and women and their family members.
