The Saint Rocco’s Feast Association holds its annual celebration Aug. 12, 13, and 14 in Malden. The 87-year-old tradition offers Italian food, a beer-and-wine garden, games, raffles, amusements, and freebies handed out by Mix 104.1 FM. The celebration kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, with a procession led by the statue of Saint Rocco. Beatlejuice, the local Beatles cover band, will perform shortly after.Sunday features another procession starting at 2 p.m., and more musical performances by Keep it Real, Richie Willis and the Jewels, and Vinyl Groove.A final performance by Back to the 80s will end the festival Sunday night. The event is located on Pearl and Thacher streets, near the Malden Center MBTA station. It will run Friday and Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. Go to saintroccosfeast.org.

For the third year in a row, the Alliance for Community Media awarded MHTV — Marblehead’s cable TV station — top honors for “Overall Excellence in Public Access.’’ The award is in recognition of the station’s range of programming and responsiveness to community needs. Two shows at MHTV were also awarded top honors. “Marblehead Youth News’’ won the Best Children’s Programming award, and community producer John Livermore’s video, “Healthy Home, Healthy Planet,’’ won the Instructional/Training category.

For the past 10 years, Community of FriendsMarblehead has provided hundreds of children in need with backpacks and school supplies. It has selected SPUR, a Marblehead-based nonprofit, to carry on distribution for the upcoming school year. SPUR has received requests from 560 children, and has an additional 137 children on its waiting list in Lynn, Marblehead, Salem, and Swampscott. Those wishing to help can sponsor a backpack, school supplies, or both, by Aug. 10. Make make checks payable to SPUR with “backpack drive’’ in the memo, mailed to PO Box 1274, Marblehead, MA 01945 or by visiting spur.community.

The Medford Whole Foods store hosted the graduation of Transitions to Work’s 25th class. The 12-week program, sponsored by the Ruderman Family Foundation, Combined Jewish Philanthropies, and Jewish Vocational Service, trains adults ages 18 to 35 with disabilities to develop the skills necessary to lead successful careers. The majority of students enrolled in the course have high school or high school equivalency degrees. Over the course of three months, students learn workplace etiquette, with a focus on customer service.
