Gilding the lily
Architectural magnificence and an abundance of blooms at the Newport Flower Show
Later this month, one of Newport’s most spectacular Gilded Age mansions, Rosecliff, which was modeled after the Grand Trianon of Versailles by architect Stanford White for a silver heiress, will host the Newport Flower Show. The historic home’s rolling front lawn will be transformed into a majestic public park with garden displays designed around this year’s theme, Gilded-Artful Living. Along with lunchtime lectures by interior design and garden expert Bunny Williams and floral designer Bruno Duarte, there will be demonstrations, a marketplace, a jazz brunch, and more. The Newport Flower Show, June 24-26 at Rosecliff, 548 Bellevue Ave., Newport, R.I., www.newportflowershow.org
