Carlos Carrasco, the Cleveland Indians’ No. 2 starting pitcher, will miss the rest of the season after breaking his right hand. Carrasco was hit by a line drive off the bat of Detroit’s Ian Kinsler on the second pitch of a 1-0, 10-inning victory over the visiting Detroit Tigers.

‘‘He’s done for the year,’’ Indians manager Terry Francona said of Carrasco, who sustained a non-displaced fracture of his pitching hand.

Jose Ramirez hit a winning single with the bases loaded in the 10th against Justin Wilson (4-5).

Using a major league record nine pitchers in a shutout of nine or more innings since at least 1913, Cleveland opened an eight-game lead over second-place Detroit.

‘‘But it will make this more challenging, what we’re trying to do,’’ Francona said. ‘‘When we do it, it will feel all that much better.’’

The injury was the latest blow to the Indians, whose rotation is led by 2014 AL Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber. No. 3 starter Danny Salazar has not pitched since Sept. 9 because of a strained right forearm and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

In addition, the Indians said Saturday that catcher Yan Gomes will be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks because of a broken right wrist, an injury incurred when he was hit by a pitch Wednesday night while on a minor league injury rehabilitation assignment for Double-A Akron.

Francona and a team trainer immediately went to the mound after Carrasco was hit. The trainer worked with Carrasco to get the feeling back in his hand for several moments before the pitcher walked off the field. Carrasco was sent for X-rays, which revealed the fracture.

Jeff Manship replaced Carrasco after the infield hit.

Carrasco missed six weeks earlier this season with a strained left hamstring, also sustained against the Tigers.

Andrew Miller (8-1), Cleveland’s eighth reliever, pitched the final two innings and completed a four-hitter. Manship, Kyle Crockett, Cody Anderson, Zach McAllister, Perci Garner, Bryan Shaw and Cody Allen preceded Miller.

Miguel Cabrera had two of Detroit’s four hits and needs one to reach 2,500.

Angels 6, Blue Jays 1 — Albert Pujols hit his 30th homer of the season in the second to spark six unanswered runs by host Los Angeles over Toronto, which dropped into a tie with Baltimore for second in the AL East, three games behind the Red Sox.

Collmenter (2-0), acquired Wednesday from the Chicago Cubs, struck out eight in five innings and allowed two runs, four hits and three walks.

Washington rookie Trea Turner hit a pair of solo home runs and is batting .458 with six homers, 16 RBIs, 19 runs and seven steals in 12 games against Atlanta this year.

Atlanta scored three runs in the fifth for a 6-2 lead against Gio Gonzalez (11-10). Markakis’s RBI single chased Gonzalez, Trevor Gott gave up Recker’s RBI single and Gordon Beckham’s bases-loaded walk.

Brewers 11, Cubs 3 — Ryan Braun went deep twice to reach 30 homers for the sixth time, Chris Carter hit a grand slam off the Wrigley Field videoboard, and visiting Milwaukee routed NL Central champion Chicago.

Mets 3, Twins 2 — Curtis Granderson hit a solo homer with two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning after connecting on a tying solo shot in the 11th, lifting New York over Minnesota.

Dodgers 6, Diamondbacks 2 — Rookie Brock Stewart pitched five effective innings as NL West-leading Los Angeles beat host Arizona.

Pirates sweep Reds, 10-4, 7-3 — Sean Rodriguez homered in both games, and Andrew McCutchen had a bases-loaded single as Pittsburgh recorded a doubleheader sweep of host Cincinnati.

In the first game, Jameson Taillon pitched five innings and singled to drive in a big league run for the first time during a win that officially eliminated the Reds from postseason contention.
