Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, who was fired by ESPN last spring for posting provocative — some would say offensive — commentary on social media, has a new syndicated radio show. Schilling has inked a deal with the Howie Carr Radio Network to host a three-hour show on Saturday mornings starting this weekend. In a statement, HCRN operations manager Jared Goodell said: “Our goal at the Howie Carr Radio Network is to become the premier provider of talk radio content for the future. We strongly believe that Curt Schilling is the answer to the nagging question of ‘who’s next?’ in the business. Curt brings spirited, educated, and level-headed conversations to the table and is passionate about talking with the listeners.’’ Schilling, who recently suggested he’d like to unseat Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren, has never been shy about sharing his political opinions, even if it gets him into trouble. In April, Schilling posted — and then deleted — a meme on Facebook that assailed the transgender community’s opposition to a North Carolina law mandating that people in public buildings use the bathroom that matches the sex listed on their birth certificates. “A man is a man no matter what they call themselves,’’ the former pitcher wrote on the post. “I don’t care what they are, who they sleep with, men’s room was designed for the penis, women’s not so much. Now you need laws telling us differently? Pathetic.’’ He was dismissed by ESPN a day later.
