Curfew set for Guns N’ Roses show

Welcome to the jungle? Welcome to the suburbs is more like it. Guns N’ Roses, who’re playing at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough July 19 and 20 — Tuesday and Wednesday nights — will have to be off stage no later than 11:15. A bid by stadium reps to extend the town’s curfew was denied by the town’s board of selectmen, who said they’re more concerned about making sure people who live near Gillette get a good night’s sleep.

“We’ve got neighbors, friends, and townspeople who have to get up and go to work the next day,’’ said selectman Mark Elfman.

In order to play past the town’s 11:15 p.m. curfew, bands have to get permission from selectmen. Sometimes, like when Taylor Swift asked for an extra 25 minutes for a pair of weekend shows last year, the board says yes. Not this time. It will be interesting to see how GN’R handles the time restriction. The band is notorious for starting their shows late — sometimes a few hours late — to the chagrin of fans and promoters.

“It might have been a different story if it was a weekend,’’ said Elfman.

Curfew or not, the cacophony coming from Gillette can usually be heard all over Foxborough. Elfman said he lives just two miles from the stadium.

“No matter which band it is, it’s loud,’’ he said.
