FOXBOROUGH — Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones sought help from the Foxborough Police Department on Sunday morning for a medical emergency, which resulted in him being admitted to Norwood Hospital, according to a report in the Boston Herald.

Jones, 25, participated in practice Monday and Tuesday. He was not spotted in the locker room either day, and has not spoken with the media since the incident occurred.

Jones was listed as having an abdomen injury this season on the Patriots’ injury report. He missed the season finale at Miami with a toe injury.

“Chandler Jones was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and released later that day,’’ Stacey James, the Patriots’ vice president of media relations, told the Globe in a statement. “He reported to work on time Monday morning and has participated in all meetings and practices since then.’’

According to the Herald, citing police dispatch records, Jones showed up at the police station Sunday at 7:42 a.m., with an undisclosed medical emergency.

After being evaluated by fire and EMS personnel, the report indicated that Jones was transported to Norwood Hospital slightly after 8 a.m.

Contacted by the Herald, Foxborough Police Chief Edward T. O’Leary initially said his department had no interaction with Jones.

The Herald report also stated that while Jones was being evaluated in the police station parking lot, an officer was sent to Jones’s nearby home to “secure the residence.’’

The Herald report said that information was deleted from the dispatch records.

“It’s protected information on a medical condition,’’ the Herald quoted O’Leary as saying. “Officers get training in making sure it’s information that’s not to be disclosed. I trust my lieutenant to know the difference.’’

Jones was a first-round draft pick in 2012. He led the Patriots this season with 12½ sacks while being named to his first Pro Bowl, and has helped the Patriots reach the divisional round of the AFC playoffs.
