The MBTA's Braintree garageis undergoing renovations that will affect parking availability through August, according to the MBTA website. The five-phase project will affect a minimum of 10 parking spots, T officials said. The fifth stage, without an official start date, is forecast to eliminate more than 200 spaces. Riders are encouraged to park at the Quincy Adams or North Quincy stations for a better chance at finding space.
Quincy College is offering use of its Virtual Single-Use Biomanufacturing Laboratory free to anyone from high school students to big pharmaceutical companies. The chairman of the college’s biotechnology and compliance program and program designer Bruce Van Dyke said the goal of the virtual lab is to give people the skills and experience to enter the growing disposable-biopharmaceutical job market at an entry-level position. The indoor play parkBilly Beezopened its ninth national location in the Kingston Collection. The 26,000-square-foot park is designed to accommodate all ages with custom-designed play equipment to keep children active. General manager Stephen O’Grady said the park hosts an innovative security system that takes photos of parents with their children at each employee-operated entrance to guarantee that families leave together. The park also offers a drop-off service, O’Grady said, and special events throughout the year. With play areas for toddlers and a café with food and drinks, Billy Beez is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Norwell Visiting Nurse Association and Hospiceis opening a new space in Plymouth at The Pinehills. Founded in 1920, the nonprofit organization already serves Plymouth but the new location will expand its service by offering health and wellness support groups and programs, specifically for people fighting cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. The home health care agency’s new location, 1 Village Green North, Suite 123, will host a job fair 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2.
The community donation centerHabitat for Humanity ReStoreis opening a location in Hanover as part of the South Shore Habitat for Humanity. The independent organization accepts donations of new and used building materials, furniture, and appliances and sells them at below-retail prices. ReStore manager Mark Anderson said all profits go to Habitat for Humanity’s affordable-housing projects. He said the store would open in late May or early June.
