The gang at 826 Boston held its annual fund-raising gala Friday and there were plenty of creative types in the crowd. A nonprofit that helps kids with their creative and expository writing skills, 826 was founded by Dave Eggers, author of “A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.’’ Eggers was at the Royal Sonesta Friday, as were writer ZZ Packer (above with Eggers), Guster’s Ryan Miller, who played a few tunes for the crowd, and WBUR’s Robin Young, the auctioneer for the evening.
