Let there be light!

Transit officials Friday shared a photo of the new lighting that will shine from the renovated Government Center Station that’s set to reopen next month.

“The multi-colored LED lights of the new glass tower of [Government Center’s] head house were tested,’’ the MBTA wrote on Twitter.

The T said the lights can be set to different hues, much like the Prudential Tower changes its lighting. On Friday, the color of the day was a glowing green.

“The colors and shades will be at the discretion of the MBTA,’’ said T spokesman Joe Pesaturo. “White is the ‘default’ color. The spectrum of colors is extensive.’’

The “precise timing’’ of when the lights will go on every day has not been determined, he said.

The touch of class on the glass seemed to appeal to riders, despite the massive delays on the T’s commuter rail this week.

“I poke fun at Boston’s mass transit system, but this is really neat. Solid work, lads,’’ one person tweeted.

A second person said they would visit the station because of the luminous addition.

“Totally coming down there when it opens,’’ the person said on social media, after the T shared two images of the structure.

The $82 million reconstruction project, which shut down the station in 2014, is scheduled to be complete by March 26. The project was primarily aimed at making the station more accessible for people with disabilities.
