Rowe, Kamara spark Revolution to victory
Associated Press

MONTREAL — Kei Kamara scored on a header 24 seconds into the game and Kelyn Rowe added two goals and an assist to help the New England Revolution beat the Montreal Impact, 3-1, on Saturday night.

The Revolution (9-12-9), who lost to Dallas in the US Open Cup final on Tuesday, posted their third straight win in Major League Soccer play with only their second road victory of the season. New England moved 2 points behind fifth-place Montreal in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Didier Drogba scored on a penalty for Montreal (9-9-4), which has only one win in seven games. Perhaps more alarmingly, the Impact are 0-3-1 in their last four home games, conceding 11 goals.

Kamara redirected home Rowe’s looping cross for the third-fastest goal in team history, five seconds slower than José Cancela, who set the team mark in 2005.

Kamara has 10 goals this year — five coming against the Impact. With 84 career goals, Kamara stands fourth in MLS among active players.

The Impact were returning home following a 1-1 draw against the Union.

It marked the second meeting of the season between the teams. In the first meeting, Kamara gave the Revolution a two-goal lead in the opening half, but Michael Salazar scored twice and Ignacio Piatti once in the second half to spark a stunning Montreal 3-2 win.
