Investigators in Brockton say they have linked the killings of two women to a series of three violent rapes dating to 2013, and authorities are looking for the same man in connection with each of the crimes.

Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced Tuesday that they have used DNA evidence from the crimes to identify the profile of a man who may have been involved. They were even able to use the information to create a computerized sketch of what he could look like.

“This guy’s a bad guy, and he’s out there taking people off the streets. He needs to be somebody that we take off the street, and put him behind bars,’’ Cruz said at a morning news conference. “That’s where he belongs.’’

Some of the DNA was taken from the body of Ashley M. Mylett, who was 20 years old when investigators found her dead in a wooded area Dec. 28 2014. Her body was stacked atop the skeletal remains of Linda Schufeldt, 51, and authorities believe the same person killed both of them.

The DNA evidence did not confirm what role the man may have played in the killings, according to Cruz’s office, but they said he is a person of interest.

Authorities said the man is suspected of three rapes over the past two years in which he picked up prostitutes, assaulted them, and drove them far away. The rapes happened in October 2013, November 2013, and January 2014.

Cruz saidhe hopes the sketch will get people in the city of Brockton and elsewhere to contact investigators. Anyone who recognizes the person depicted in the sketch can call a special State Police number at 508-894-2584, Cruz said.
