Notable openings: Cheese-sauced tater tots, Green Monster shakes, gravy fries, burgers draped in bacon and eggs — Tasty Burger is known for these artery-busting delights, and Boston clearly appreciates the effort. The burger mini-empire recently opened its fifth city location in Roxbury’s Dudley Square (2200 Washington St. at Ruggles Street). Hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily, with designs on breakfast soon. Tasty CEO Dave DuBois plans to open the first Tasty outpost in Washington, D.C., this spring.

Kendall Square has plenty of swanky restaurants, but those in search of high-quality Indian usually detour toward Central. Now there’s no need: Shanti has opened at the Watermark building (7 Broad Canal Way at Third Street). The Indian-Bangladeshi restaurant (with lots of vegan and veggie options) has loyal fans at two sister locations in Dorchester and Roslindale, and this menu is identical. Look for spice classes and seasonal prix fixe dinners at the new location, too. Husband-and-wife owners Solmon and Rokeya Chowdhury also run Central Square nightclub Monroe and Roxbury’s Dudley Café.

Temporary closings: Downtown Crossing steakhouse jm Curley is temporarily closed after a flood caused by a burst pipe. The restaurant is rebuilding, says owner Babak Bina; stay tuned for a reopening date.

Popular Arlington Indian spot Punjab (485 Massachusetts Ave. at Mystic Street) has suffered a similar piping problem. The restaurant is closed for renovations and plans a spring reopening.

Culinary events: The Boston Center for Adult Education (122 Arlington St. at Winchester Street) welcomes notable chefs for spring cooking classes, now open for registration. Concoct noodles and dumplings with Banyan Bar + Refuge’s Phillip Tang (above), explore flavors of Greek Easter with Doretta Taverna’s Michael Schlow, and indulge in hand-dipped bonbons with Café ArtScience’s Renae Connolly. Tuition is $70 per class for non-members; sign up at www.bcae.org.
