The rising senior from Shrewsbury High earned tournament MVP honors as Shrewsbury Post 397 took home the Massachusetts American Legion title. Playing with a torn left labrum, the catcher was 8-for-23 with seven runs scored over five games.

In his 12th year as the athletic trainer at Suffolk University, he earned the 2016 Tim Kerin Award for Excellence in Athletic Training, the first New England recipient. His 40-year career includes stops at Natick High and Ashland High, and Framingham State.

Carding a 4-over-par 74 at Acoaxet Club in Westport, the 13-year-old Willett captured the second MGA Young Golfers’ Amateur Championship on July 27. Playing out of Charles River CC, he registered two birdies on the back nine.
