The Massachusetts Horticultural Society is hosting a school gardens conference on Friday, Feb. 19, to engage teachers, students, parents, and others in conversations about gardening in schools. The society, along with the Mass Master Gardeners, SHED Children’s Campus, Slow Food Boston, and Slow Food USA, hopes to teach attendees about building successful gardening programs in schools. The conference will be held at the Gardens at Elm Bank, 900 Washington St., Wellesley, and will feature food and coffee provided by Chipotle and Starbucks. Tickets are $40 for members, $50 for nonmembers, and $25 for students; they are available via www.masshort.org.

Arlington restaurant Tryst (above) opened a new Italian-style pop-up concept this month. “Covengno’’ is part of an ongoing effort by Tryst chef and owner Paul Turano to incorporate limited-time specialty menus that change every few months to the restaurant’s existing offerings. It will operate Sundays through Tuesdays from 5 to 10 p.m. until the spring, and will feature dishes like orecchiette with house-made chicken sausage and Roman-style gnocchi. Each meal costs $18 and will be topped off by a house-made cannoli. Tryst is at 689 Massachusetts Ave., Arlington.
