Attend Inc. of Boston is being acquired by Event Farm Inc., a deal that brings together two startups that sell event-mangement software.

Terms of the transaction between the two privately held companies were not disclosed.

“We’re changing the way marketers approach events for the first time with this new technology. Attend is the only company we thought that thinks about this the same way,’’ Event Farm’s cofounder and CEO, Ryan Costello, said Thursday in a phone interview.

Event Farm’s software is used by companies planning events to send out digital invitations, manage guest registration, and provide a custom-branded experience. The company, founded in 2011, is based in Santa Monica, Calif., and has 50 employees.

Attend, founded in 2012, tracks the revenue generated by event marketing. The company, backed by Boston-based .406 Ventures, has around 20 employees.

The combined company plans to hire new employees from Boston and overseas in the coming months.
