THE SHADES
Providence-based interior designer Kelly Taylor of Kelly Taylor Interior Design mixed textured materials in neutral tones for a light, bright, and airy space. Conrad “Daybreak’’ shades, hand-woven with natural fibers, are sheer with a little bit of a sheen.
THE FLOORING
The maple floors are finished with water- based polyurethane for an almost bleached effect rather than the honey golden hue that comes from an oil-based blend.
THE FIREPLACE
The fireplace surround, done in glass mosaic tiles infused with gold, copper, and silver leaf by TDavlin Architectural Tile and Glass from Ann Sacks, is the room’s focal point in winter. “The simple design lets the tiles sing,’’ Taylor says.
THE FURNITURE
There’s plenty of seating, including a Cassina sofa and Molteni & C armchairs upholstered in a textured linen blend. The russet-colored ottoman by Cliff Young, topped with walnut tray, functions as a table.
THE RUG
A Tibetan wool and silk rug by Tamarian from Rustigian Rugs in Providence has a bark-like, organic pattern. Its darker color grounds the space.
