Krasinski, Evans in 22 Pushup Challenge

Two of our favorite leading men from Massachusetts — Newton’s John Krasinski and Sudbury’s Chris Evans — are among the many stars to take on the “22 Pushup Challenge,’’ a social media campaign that’s raising awareness about the alarming rate of suicide among military veterans (an average of 22 veterans commit suicide each day, according to one widely cited estimate).

The premise behind the campaign is simple: take video of yourself doing 22 push-ups and post it on social media, and nominate others to do it, too. Like the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, it’s going viral and many celebrities are participating, including Dwayne “The Rock’’ Johnson, Scott Eastwood, and NFL defensive end J.J. Watt.

Krasinski accepted the challenge from fellow actor Chris Pratt, and he performed his push-ups with his palms down, and with his dog at his side. Like Krasinski, Evans also appeared on camera with his dog, and cranked out push-ups on his knuckles, even while his dog got in his way several times (which is very funny to watch).
