The 5-foot-10-inch, 180-pound senior quarterback threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns in Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s season-opening 37-34 overtime win at MIT on Sept. 2. Eckler connected on 13 of 19 pass attempts.

The former Rebels’ receiver, now a sophomore at Bridgewater State University, tallied 99 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown, and drilled a 32-yard field goal in the Bears’ 28-24 loss to Curry College.

Renz, who’s run all six of the world’s major marathons averaging under 3 hours, won the 2.5-mile Fresh Pond road race in Cambridge with a time of 14 minutes, 24 seconds, 4 minutes ahead of the pack.
