Cheyanne Thistle, a 10th grade student from Pepperell who attends Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Westford, is the winner of the fourth annual Poster Project, sponsored by District Attorney Marian Ryan and Middlesex Partnerships for Youth Inc. The theme this year was “Write the Story You Want to Tell,’’ which Thistle showcased in her poster titled “Self Confidence.’’ Thistle’s entry was chosen from more than 77 submissions from middle and high school students in Middlesex County.
Merrimack Valley Chorus is searching for enthusiastic singers to join its all-women group. Three rehearsals will be held on June 9, 16, and 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. to prepare for a performance at the Wilmington Farmers Market on June 26. The Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington will be home to Northeast Comic Con on June 18 and 19. With more than 150 vendors and dozens of special guests, there is something for every fan, including replicas of movie props and free-play video games and tournaments. Special guests this year include Micky Dolenz, former drummer of The Monkees, who was the voice of several TV characters, including in “The Tick;’’ James Tolkan, who appeared in the “Back to the Future’’ series; and Chase Masterson, who had a role in “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.’’ Saturday tickets ($18) and Sunday tickets ($10) are available in advance at necomiccon.net.
The Stoneham Travel U-10 Girls soccer team won a visit from New England Revolution midfielder Scott Caldwell as part of Papa Gino’s “Play, Eat, Score’’ contest. Caldwell helped the girls with their technique at their May 12 practice, after which they were given a Papa Gino’s pizza party and free Revolution tickets.
