In a 2-0 week for Stonehill College’s men’s basketball team, the 6-foot-5 sophomore from Central Catholic swished all nine of his shot attempts, averaging 11.5 points and 2.5 rebounds off the bench to earn NE-10 Rookie of the Week honors.

Representing the Canal Street Gym, the 22-year-old amateur won the heavyweight title (201 pounds and up) in the open class at the 70th annual Lowell Golden Gloves Championship. He beat Haverhill’s John Roche, 5-0, by decision.

Already the career scoring leader (1,295 points) for the Wheelock College women’s basketball program, the 5-foot-8 junior forward racked up 31 points on 13-of-17 shooting in an 82-34 win over Lesley. She is averaging 16.9 ppg. for the 15-4 Bobcats.
