Carl Hagelin scored twice and the Penguins welcomed star forward Evgeni Malkin back from injury with a 4-1 victory against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday in Pittsburgh.
Hagelin scored his sixth and seventh of the season for Pittsburgh and Scott Wilson added a third-period goal.
Defenseman Kris Letang scored his 10th of the season for the Penguins, who had Malkin back in the lineup after the 2012 NHL MVP missed 10 games because of a lower-body injury. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 27 shots for his 25th win.
The Penguins won their 15th straight home game against Winnipeg, the NHL’s second-longest streak against any opponent.
The Jets haven’t won in Pittsburgh since Dec. 27, 2006, when they were known as the Atlanta Thrashers.
Blake Wheeler scored his 18th of the season for the Jets, who have lost six of their last eight games.
Red Wings 5, Avalanche 3 — Brad Richards, playing in his fifth NHL outdoor game, tipped a shot over the shoulder of Semyon Varlamov with one minute remaining to lift Detroit to a convincing victory over Colorado before 50,095 at Coors Field in Denver.
The temperature was an unseasonably balmy 65 degrees at puck drop. The previous warmest game-time temperature in an NHL regular-season outdoor game was 62 degrees on Jan. 25, 2014, when Los Angeles hosted Anaheim at Dodger Stadium.
Rangers 3, Stars 2 — In Dallas, Kevin Klein scored with 2:53 left to lift New York. Ryan McDonagh gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead with a goal 8:26 into the third, then helped prevent a tying goal by sliding over a loose puck at the goal line.
Flyers 4, Coyotes 2 — Claude Giroux scored one of Philadelphia’s three first-period goals for his 500th career point and Mark Streit had three assists to lead the host Flyers.
Scott Laughton, Sam Gagner, and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare also scored for the Flyers, who have won both games so far of a six-game homestand that likely will determine their playoff fate. Philadelphia began the day behind three teams and three points back of a playoff spot.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Brad Richardson scored for the Coyotes, who tied a season high with their fifth straight loss. Arizona also has dropped seven in a row on the road and 11 of the last 14 overall.
Predators 5, Blues 0 — Filip Forsberg recorded his second hat trick in four days and Pekka Rinne posted a 26-save shutout to spark host Nashville.
Forsberg scored three goals during a 14-minute span to start the second period, leading the Predators to their fourth straight win.
Forsberg has a team-high 26 goals this season, including 12 in February.
Blue Jackets 4, Panthers 3 — Brandon Dubinsky scored the only shootout goal in the third round, and Scott Hartnell had a goal and assist as host Columbus beat the Atlantic Division-leading Panthers.
Canadiens 4, Maple Leafs 1 — Max Pacioretty scored a pair of third-period goals to pace Montreal over visiting Toronto.
Alex Galchenyuk and Devante Smith-Pelly also scored and Mike Condon had 31 saves for the Canadiens.
