There’s a new children’s book about Cecil the lion’s life
The killing of Cecil the lion in 2015 was followed by a global outpouring of outrage. Now a new children’s book, “Cecil’s Pride: The True Story of a Lion King’’ (Scholastic), tells the story of Cecil’s good life. Coauthors Craig Hatkoff and his daughters Juliana and Isabella describe Cecil’s unusual alliance with a former rival, a lion named Jericho. The photographs that capture Cecil at different ages and in a variety of moods are by Brent Stapelkamp, a researcher who tracked and studied Cecil for nine years. Jericho has accepted Cecil’s cubs as his own so their prospects for survival are strong.
