Two men were arrested Tuesday in connection with the murder of a Taunton man outside an apartment building more than five years ago, according to Bristol prosecutors.

The two men, both from Taunton, were identified as Jeremy Rhoden, 25, and Donnelle Bates, 26. They were both ordered held without bail in Taunton District Court Tuesday on murder charges in the shooting of Joseph Dugan on July 7, 2010.

The 33-year-old Dugan was shot outside a Granite Street apartment building in Taunton, where he was visiting a friend. No one else was injured. He was taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton and then to Boston Medical Center, where he died from a single gunshot wound.

His family has insisted that he was mistaken for someone else by the people responsible for his death.

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III handled Bates’s arraignment.
