Averaging a team-leading 14.5 points per game for the Penn men’s basketball team, the 6-foot-8 freshman from Northfield Mount Hermon pumped in a career-high 35 points (14 of 19 from the floor) in a 77-74 win over La Salle. He was the Ivy Rookie of the Week.

A sophomore guard on the Suffolk men’s basketball team, he averaged 23 points while shooting 53.8 percent from the floor in a 2-0 week. Named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference honor roll, he poured in 36 points in an 86-62 win over Rivier.

At the USATF New England Masters Indoor Track & Field Championship in Providence, Mikkelsen set a national record running the 400 meters (1:02.24) in the women’s 50- to 54-year-old division. She beat the previous mark— set in 2004 — by 0.58 seconds.
