N.H. firefighter dies after training course

A 43-year-old New Hampshire firefighter and father of four died after returning home from training, officials said.

Doug Clement, a firefighter and emergency medical technician in New Hampton, was on call Monday night after returning from medical training, the department said.

The Fire Department was called to his house for a medical emergency at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday and he was taken to Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, N.H., where he was later pronounced dead, officials said. He had a heart attack.

“He was loyal, he was dedicated,’’ said Fire Chief Michael Drake. “He was the type of guy who was willing to give you his last dollar and the shirt off his back. He was always there when you needed something here.’’ He joined the Fire Department in 1997. Drake said the department is finalizing services for Clement.
