Openings, closings, and chatter from the restaurant scene

Openings: Gita at Wink & Nod is now open (3 Appleton St. at Tremont Street). It’s the culinary incubator’s fifth pop-up and the first restaurant from chef Gita Kantrow. The Nepali-themed spot is open Monday through Saturday beginning at 5 p.m., with a bar and late-night menu coming soon. Look for momos in tomato chutney, garlic cheese naan, masala fried chicken, peppercorn-charred salmon, and cardamom shortcake. It replaces Greek pop-up Pelekasis.

The Fat Hen in Somerville is poised to open within La Brasa restaurant’s former market (124 Broadway at Glen Street), says a rep for the restaurant. Chef Michael Bergin comes from Manhattan’s Del Posto and A Voce, as well as L’Espalier. Bergin will serve fresh pasta, braised meats, and a “modest but mighty’’ wine list at the 30-seat space.

Downtown Crossing wine bar haley.henry has opened at luxury downtown high-rise 45 Province (45 Province St. at Bosworth Street). Haley Fortier worked at Barbara Lynch’s Sportello before opening the 18-seat boite, which serves roughly 50 wines — some unusual — from around the world. Pair them with a selection of tinned fish from Portugal and Spain, crudo, toasts, and charcuterie. Chef de cuisine Carolina Curtin comes from Lynch’s Menton.

The legions who miss Somerville bao parlor DooWee & Rice have reason to rejoice: Chef Duy Tran has brought his signature Taiwanese steamed buns and spicy chicken hearts to Central Square lounge Monroe (450 Massachusetts Ave. at Brookline Street). A soft-opening menu includes several types of buns, fries, wings, and grilled chicken with rice. Tran will introduce a final menu at the beginning of September.

Lunches: New Back Bay seafood parlor Porto (780 Boylston St. at Ring Road) now serves weekday lunch. Feast on lobster rolls, spicy steak sandwiches, chilled corn soup, and grilled lamb legs from Jody Adams and team. Brunch service begins on Aug. 13. KARA BASKIN
