The East Boston boys’ track and field team dominated the accolades in capturing the Boston Public Schools Indoor Track and Field title at the Reggie Lewis Center Wednesday afternoon.

The Jets totaled 107 points in the 12 scored events in the two-day championship, including three first-place and six second-place finishes.

“We’ve been working hard since the very first week of December,’’ said coach Garcia Dalzon, who was named North Coach of the Year following the meet. “It’s a team effort. With track, it can seem like a very individualistic sport, but you can’t win without the whole team. I’m very proud of them.’’

East Boston senior captain Joel Pastrana earned the Male Athlete of the Meet award with his victory in the long jump (21 feet, 10 inches) and second-place finish in the 55-meter dash (6.63 seconds).

Another top performer for the Jets was junior Jordan Mejia, who came in second in both the mile (4 minutes, 56 seconds) and 2 miles (11:03), trailing O’Bryant junior Sean Dykens in both events.

Mejia’s legs gave out and he collapsed after crossing the finish line in the mile, but he said it was worth “using up all of [his] juice’’ in achieving his goal of breaking the five-minute barrier.

“I just wanted to run as fast as I could and at the end I couldn’t feel my legs anymore,’’ he said. “I’m happy I gave it my all though.’’

Brighton came in second with 85 points and the next closest team was O’Bryant in third with 39.

“Like coach [Dalzon] says, every part has to work,’’ Mejia said. “If one part of the machine doesn’t work, it’s going to fail. I’m glad that everybody stepped up and did what they had to do today.’’

On the girls’ side, Latin Academy won its seventh straight Boston Public Schools Indoor Championship after recording 100 points without a first-place finish.

Senior Catherine Van Even took second place in the mile (6:25) and 2 miles (13:53) and senior Tajahane Francis captured second in the 55-meter hurdles (10.44 seconds) and third in the high jump (4 feet). Both contributed to a third-place finish in the 4 x 400 meter relay for the Dragons.

“[Van Even and Francis] totally exemplify the type of depth we have with us not having a first-place finish,’’ said coach Brian Leussler. “They did a fantastic job and were really instrumental in us winning.’’
