In the mid-20th century, Littleton was home to the Veryfine Apple Co., which operated the largest apple-processing plant in New England. After two ownership changes after 2004, the plant shut down in 2015. This photo, taken Sept. 28, 1949, displays the “Big Apple’’ sign at the front of the building.
