The Coolidge Corner Theatre announced Tuesday morning that Jane Fonda (pictured) will be honored with its Coolidge Award on Jan. 31. Fonda is up for a Golden Globe for her performance in Paolo Sorrentino’s “Youth.’’ She’ll attend a screening of the film while she’s in Brookline to pick up the award. The Coolidge Award, which was launched in 2004, was last given to actor Viggo Mortensen in 2012. The theater has tried to give out the award annually, but there have been a few breaks because of the availability of talent. Other former winners include Meryl Streep (2006), film editor Thelma Schoonmaker (2007), and director Jonathan Demme (2010). The award recognizes people whose careers exemplify excellence in filmmaking.
