Miley to Boston? No.

Despite what your Facebook feed may be telling you, Miley Cyrus is not moving to Boston. A story published last week on something called The McKenzie Post claims that Cyrus (inset) intends to move to the area to escape the Los Angeles scene.

“She recently visited Boston while spending a few days in the area to visit a relative,’’ the story says. “According to her assistant, ‘Miley immediately fell in love with the city and the people of Boston and was telling everyone that she was going to move there.’ ’’

The story has been making rounds on social media, but if you do some digging, The McKenzie Post — which also features headlines such as “Morgan Freeman Nabs Himself Some Cookies at the Oscars and Gets Out’’ and “Amazing 86 Year Old Grandmother Does Gymnastics’’ — explains that it is the “premiere fantasy news site in the world! All news articles on mckenziepost.com are satire or pure fantasy.’’

Still, many commenters on the website didn’t seem to understand that the story is a fabrication. One reader wrote, “I love you Miley!! Yay!! Boston is an amazing city!’’ Another said: “Go ahead. Just stay the hell away from the Cape. We don’t need you.’’

The Miley story isn’t the only fake news circulating Facebook these days. A site called Headlinebrief.com published a similar bit of fiction with the headline, “Clint Eastwoodmoving to Concord, Massachusetts.’’
