Gun makers take the wrong stand in suit against Mass. attorney general
Consumers want to be informed and protected when products malfunction, such as with Samsung’s recent smartphone recall. The fact that Glock and Remington filed suit against Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, rather than release information about how often their guns malfunction by accidentally discharging, demonstrates that the gun manufacturers care more about their profits than about their customers’ safety (“Healey launches inquiry on gun safety,’’ Page A1, Sept. 1).
Remind me why firearms are one of the only products that are not regulated by the federal Consumer Product Safety Commission?
