Openings: Southern Kin opened June 3 (500 Assembly Row, Somerville). It’s the latest from Boston Nightlife Ventures, the team behind Wink & Nod, Griddler’s Burger + Dogs, and the Tap Trailhouse. The Southern restaurant has moonshine-focused cocktails and dishes like she-crab bisque and country fried steak, plus a big patio.
Coming Soon: The South End’s Estragon tapas bar (700 Harrison Ave. at E. Brookline Street) soon launches the adjacent BAR GOGO, open on Sunday nights starting June 12. Enjoy cocktails and a supper menu each week from Estragon chef Julio de Haro; on off nights, the bar turns into a private event space.
Also slated to open this month: Riversbend at the Essex Marina (35 Dodge St.), the latest from L’Espalier’s Frank McClelland, serving wood-fired oven, rotisserie, and grilled treats overlooking the Essex River. The restaurant is inside a converted marina boathouse. “This is seaside food that represents my heritage,’’ McClelland told the Globe in the restaurant’s early stages.
Good Deeds: The Kirkland Tap & Trotter (425 Washington St. at Beacon Street) kicks off its Guest Chef Top Dog series to benefit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, beginning June 6. Kristen Kish of “Top Chef,’’ Shepard’s Susan Regis, Hojoko and O Ya’s Tim Cushman, and Eventide Oyster’s Andrew Taylor and Mike Wiley will create unusual hot dogs on Mondays through September.
