Bo Burnham (inset) appeared on Conan O’Brien’s show Tuesday night and treated viewers to some less-than-inspiring words of wisdom.

“What’s your advice for young people?’’ O’Brien asked.

“You just gotta take a deep breath and . . . give up,’’ said Burnham, a Hamilton-bred comic who released a new comedy special earlier this month. “The system is rigged against you. Your hard work and talent will not pay off.’’

“That’s it — goodnight everybody!’’ said O’Brien, as he jokingly waved goodbye to the audience.

Laughter and applause filled the studio.

Burnham, 25, went on to explain the reasoning behind his pessimistic outlook.

“I would say don’t take advice from people like me who have gotten very lucky,’’ said Burnham. “Like, Taylor Swift telling you to follow your dreams is like a lottery winner saying, ‘Liquidize your assets, buy Powerball tickets, it works!’?’’

O’Brien said he agreed that luck played a role in his own success.

“I say, I work really hard, I think I have some ability, but I also got really lucky,’’ said O’Brien. “And when some people act like that’s not part of it, it makes me a little crazy.’’

Burnham agreed.

“Yeah, of course. And we’re tall white guys! We overcame nothing to be here. There was nothing standing in our way and we barely got here,’’ said Burnham, who’s 6-foot-5.

“You have no chance.’’
