We’re kind of sort of at the end of the summer season, but the fall season doesn’t really begin until Sept. 18. In the meantime, as we pre-grieve the good weather, a few new and returning shows are sneaking onto the schedule. Let’s call this in-between period Sum-tember.

Better Late Than Never (NBC, Aug. 23)

This reality travel show will send William Shatner, Henry Winkler, George Foreman, and Terry Bradshaw to Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Thailand. Food, drink, festivity, and strangeness ensue.

You’re the Worst (FXX, Aug. 31)

Where are our favorite misanthropes in the course of their love affair? The show returns after an entertaining and, with the revelation of Gretchen’s depression, moving second season.

Narcos (Netflix, Sept. 2)

This dynamic series, which feels at times like Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas’’ in the drug trade, returns with a second season that focuses on the last year of Pablo Escobar.

Mary + Jane (MTV, Sept. 5)

Two women in LA are weed entrepreneurs who’ve created a successful dope delivery app. They fit their lives in between deliveries.

Atlanta (FX, Sept. 6)

Donald Glover created, produces, and stars in this series as a loner who returns to his hometown of Atlanta. He gets caught up in the local rap scene, where his cousin has become a star. “The thesis with the show was kind of to show people how it felt to be black,’’ Glover told the press.

Queen Sugar (OWN, Sept. 6)

Created, directed, and executive produced by Ava DuVernay, this drama follows the lives of two sisters played by Rutina Wesley and Dawn-Lyen Gardner. It’s based on the novel by Natalie Baszile.

StartUp (Crackle, Sept. 6)

Starring Martin Freeman and Adam Brody, this drama tracks a digital currency company. The FBI is paying close attention to their every move.

Better Things (FX, Sept. 8)

Pamela Adlon created this semi-autobiographical series with Louis C.K., and she stars as the single mother of three who’s an actress in LA. It’s like “Louie,’’ as it focuses on some of the small, rich moments in her life.

Quarry (Cinemax, Sept. 9)

Based on the novels of Max Allan Collins, this series is about a Marine who returns from Vietnam in 1972 and deals with an unwelcoming country. He gets drawn into corrupt goings-on along the Mississippi River.

Indian Summers (PBS, Sept. 11)

The engaging drama, airing locally on WGBH 2, returns for more conflict in the world of British socialites during the time of the British Raj.

Fleabag (Amazon, Sept. 16)

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who played lawyer Abby Thompson on “Broadchurch,’’ wrote and stars in this comedy as an angry, wry single woman in London. Olivia Colman and Brett Gelman costar.
