WCVB Channel 5 confirmed Monday afternoon that Maria Stephanos has joined its team as an evening anchor. She’ll start the gig — co-anchoring with Ed Harding at 7 and 11 p.m. — on Thursday. They’ll also anchor the soon-to-be launched 10 p.m. news show on MeTV Boston. “WCVB is my new home, and I couldn’t be prouder to be joining this team of dedicated and talented journalists,’’ Stephanos said in a statement released by the station. Stephanos left Fox 25 after almost 18 years in September, saying it was time to “embark on a new adventure.’’ For those wondering what happens to WCVB co-anchor Heather Unruh, she’ll be the medical reporter and co-anchor the 4:30 and 6 p.m. broadcasts with Harding.
