Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals has chosen “Deadpool’’ star Ryan Reynolds (inset) as its 2017 Man of the Year.

The award ceremony, including the presentation of the Pudding Pot and a roast of the recipient, will take place Feb. 3. Past recipients of the Man of the Year Award include Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford, Justin Timberlake, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Pratt, and, last year, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. (The Woman of the Year recipient has not been announced yet.)

In a statement Friday, the Hasty Pudding Theatricals said they’re ‘‘proud to honor such a talented and diverse actor, whose seamless transition across multiple genres captures audiences and keeps them coming back to see what’s next.’’ Trust us, they’ll be much less kind to Reynolds when they get him onstage Feb. 3.

The Canadian actor is best known for his roles in “Deadpool,’’ “R.I.P.D.,’’ “Green Lantern,’’ “The Proposal,’’ and “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’’ Reynolds has been married twice, first to actress Scarlett Johansson and now to actress Blake Lively, who has said she’d like to attend Harvard Business School someday. Maybe she can tour the campus when her husband’s in town next month.
